This is Kevin, the first lchild we sponsored through Compassion International. Kevin lives with his parents and 2 siblings in the mountaineous village of Laguia located in Ecuador which has approxiamately 500 residents. Houses there are usually constructed  of cement floors, wood walls and thatch roofs. Most adults are unemployed there but some work as day laborers and earn what is equivalent to $100.00 per month.

Sometimes because of hardships in the family children are taken out of the program. We are sad to announce that this happened to Kevin as he was most likely needed to help in the home.

This is Josue, the little boy we sponsor. He lives in Ecuador with his mother and is responsible for running errands. His mother maintains the home. We are happy to report in the last letter we recived from him that he is doing very well in school and regularly attends church activities. He always draws a picture on the back of his letters and says that  he is praying for us. How sweet!

Compassion International works exclusively through local churches and Christian fellowships to assist children. Eighty-two percent of all monies goes directly to the support of the programs established for the children. Sponsored children are provided with an opportunity to receive education, proper health care and they are enrolled in a church-based program where Christian adults offer love and guidance and encourage the children to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ.

We have learned that sponsored children are so excited to receive mail which is not a common thing and they cherish each letter. It encourages them and gives them hope that someone cares.  It is a way we can share the love of Jesus.
